Do you have a passionate friend who is brave enough to venture into the exploration of all things taboo? Are they a Scorpio and is their birthday coming up? Here are ideas and more information about the Scorpios you could use to make their birthday celebration even more memorable.
In traditional astrology, those born between 23rd October and 21st November are referred to as Scorpios.
Scorpio is a fixed sign, meaning that their qualities and attributes are firmly set and do not change. They are very secretive and often do not divulge information unless it is absolutely needed. They have a strong sense of self-preservation and can be somewhat reserved, but they are also sensual, magnetic and powerful. Their ruling planet is Pluto and Mars. Scorpio is a water sign and is therefore associated with emotion, intuition, deep feelings and passion.
Scorpios are very passionate individuals. In relationships, their partners will find them to be intensely loyal as well as possessive. They take great pride in their intimate relationships.
Scorpios are strong-willed individuals who have a tremendous amount of willpower. As a result, they tend to push themselves hard to accomplish their goals. Most people born under this sign have a natural ability to influence others, which helps them excel professionally. Scorpios have a natural gift for understanding the complexities of others, which makes it easier for them to be successful at interacting with other people – – especially those that they don’t know well.

In the sky
Scorpio in Greek means “the scorpion”. There are many myths about this creature but the most famous one is about Orion, the hunter. Orion was very proud of his hunting skills and he said that he could kill any animal with his arrows. Orion was eventually killed by a giant scorpion sent by Gaia (Mother Earth). To this very day, the scorpion is still chasing Orion in the sky.
The Scorpius constellation is in the southern hemisphere, and therefore it is visible mainly in summer. It contains two star clusters and many interesting deep sky objects.
Scorpius contains the asterism Antares, one of the brightest stars in the night sky. It has an orange color and is a binary system, i.e. it is a double star with a 6th magnitude companion star. The name Antares comes from the Greek meaning ‘Rival of Mars’.
The brightest star in the constellation is called Graffias, which means ‘the claw’. The second brightest star is called Acrab or Azrabyeti, meaning ‘the armpit’ in Arabic. Both Graffias and Acrab are triple stars that contain two hot blue giants, one white dwarf and another star orbiting around each other.
